Cowards, or conspirators?

At Websnark, Eric Burns speculates that the Washington Post’s (along with other papers) act of pulling two Opus comic strips was not out of fear of offending people. He thinks it may be to gin up publicity for the strip.

If so, it’s a bad move. Such acts of editorial cowardice bring into question the editorial spine of the entire publication.
